David A. Altier has been practicing civil litigation in Southwest Florida since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1998. Mr. Altier is a native of Sarasota, Florida, graduating from Riverview High School. He attended the University of Florida and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Mr. Altier earned his law degree at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois where he was active in community and legal aid organizations providing legal aid to the indigent and homeless. Mr. Altier has also represented both creditors and debtors in bankruptcy. Reported decisions include: Ingorvaia v. Horton, 816 So.2d 1256 (Fla. 2nd DCA 2002), which resulted in expansion of the trial court’s discretion in setting aside foreclosure sales. Mr. Altier believes strongly in careful evaluation and communication of the costs and benefits associated with the resolution of legal disputes. If a quick resolution cannot be obtained, then the best leverage is always careful and thorough preparation for trial. Mr. Altier is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association, the Sarasota Real Estate Investors Association and the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Sarasota with his wife, Beth, and their daughter, Peggy.
